Meal Garden May be the Best Healthy Eating App out There!
I’m not a millennial. I came of age when word processing was a course in high school. It took me awhile to catch on to social media, and my 10 year old son smugly reminds me that he knows way more than me about computers. Aside from the fact I’m better on the keyboard (evidently word processing in grade 9 was of value), lifestyle apps in general are not something I normally download. And then I found Meal Garden.
Meal Garden is the first app I’ve come across that understands moms and the mom lifestyle: busy, tired, strapped for time and in need of healthy meal options for our family and ourselves. I was a skeptic, but I always enjoy trying new things, so I downloaded the app expecting to use it once or twice. I’m addicted to it and it’s simplified so many aspects in the meal prep and serve area of life. They are inviting you to join their new, ever-updating channel designed just for YOU new moms – all free to try with no commitment. But before you register, you may want to know what makes it so great!
It’s Super Easy to Navigate
I find many apps are a maze of clicks to get to the information that you need. Meal Garden takes you right there. Simple. You can browse their categories such as quick meals, kid friendly meals, freezer friendly, healthy snacks… or you can search for a particular recipe. If you decide on a particular meal for one or two days of the week, you can schedule the meal, and it will automate your weekly grocery list so you have everything you need.
It Offers New Twists on Old Classics
We all have our favourite go to meals, whether it’s taco Tuesday, meat balls, pasta and chicken… Meal Garden has some healthy options to liven up that tired old meal. Their 3 ingredient meals are perfect when you’re sleep deprived. Try the Orange & Rosemary Chicken or the Slow Cooker Balsamic Braised Beef (that takes longer to say than to prepare!) or Spaghetti Squash with Nut Free Lemon Pesto. My kids are fairly picky eaters and there were NO complaints with any of those!
It Provides Nutrition breakdowns for each Recipe
We all try to love our bodies post-partum, but it’s helpful to see the calorie and fat count and make healthier food choices. This is also great if you’re low on iron, or in need of high protein in your diet, you can select meals from the Superfoods For Moms section. Personal favourites: Mango Chia Seed Breakfast Bowl and the Betty Smoothie. They keep you going well into the afternoon!
You Don’t Need to be a Great Cook
Let’s face it, many of us don’t love cooking. There’s nothing worse than going to make a meal and finding you’re missing one ingredient. Even if you don’t automate your grocery list, Meal Garden has tons of recipes which allow you to open your pantry and everything you need is right there!
Many recipes are simple enough to include your kids in the cooking process
It’s never too early to get kids excited about healthy eating. If you have toddlers or pre-schoolers at home, you can invite them to be a sous chef. Dietitians agree that when kids help in preparing meals, even something as simple as tearing up lettuce, putting carrots in a salad or mixing a chopped egg salad, they’re more likely to eat food that they’ve helped make. They’re excited and proud!
I’m excited for you to join me as we explore and benefit from this truly life-changing tool together! Recipes and content are always fresh – but you need to sign up here to get access while it’s still free!” there is no commitment and the timing is perfect as we head into spring and summer and want to simplify life. It take 30 seconds to sign up and then happy cooking.
